A family-account use case for dance studios

Dance studio software for students, classes and family billing.

When siblings attend different classes but one parent handles the bill, separate student records and a shared payer account make the studio’s admin easier to follow. South Dune connects those records with class schedules, attendance and billing.

The family account in practice

Two dancers can stay distinct without splitting the bill.

Ava and Noah each have their own member profile, class package and attendance history. Their parent’s billing details, account ledger and statements live on the shared account.

When another sibling joins, link their member record to that existing account. The studio can see each dancer’s activity while the household receives one consolidated statement.

  • Ava — Contemporary class
  • Noah — Junior ballet
  • Separate packages and attendance
Building class rosters

Use packages and tags to organize groups.

Keep regular classes tied to the right students, and handle one-to-one lessons with a roster you choose.

Group class

Roster by package and group tag

Auto rosters can include active members assigned to the class package. Add tags such as “Junior” or “Ballet” to narrow who appears; any selected tag qualifies.

Private lesson

Choose a manual roster

For a private lesson or a specific rehearsal group, select only the members who should be on that session’s attendance register.

Changing enrolment

Keep member records usable

Add or remove a dancer from a package as their enrolment changes. Existing attendance and billing history remains associated with their records.

When the timetable changes

Update the next part of the term and preserve what came before.

Edit “this and following” to split a weekly class series from the selected date. Earlier sessions, attendance and billing history stay attached to the original series.

You can also change a single occurrence on its own. This helps keep the class record understandable when a studio timetable shifts during the term.

Different ways to charge

Set the billing model per dance package.

A studio can use more than one billing approach at the same time.

calendar_month

Monthly tuition

Use a recurring monthly package for a regular class enrolment.

confirmation_number

Prepaid class pack

Post the full package charge when the pack is assigned to the dancer.

fact_check

Pay per attended class

For a usage-based package, complete the session to charge members marked present.

South Dune records and tracks these charges on the family or individual account ledger, ready for a period statement.

Dance studio questions

How South Dune handles students and families.

Can one account pay for siblings in different classes?

Yes. Each student keeps their own packages and attendance, while the account holds the shared billing details, ledger and statement.

Can I roster only selected students for a rehearsal?

Yes. Use a manual roster when you want to choose the exact members for a session.

Can I change the class timetable partway through a term?

Yes. Split the recurring series from the chosen date forward; earlier occurrences and history stay unchanged.
